What does this really mean? This smacks of the same political thinking that brought one Pennsylvania senator over to the Dems not too long ago. Dump the decreasingly attractive girl that brought you to the dance for a new, fresh tart. Both Senator Spector and Rep. Griffith didn’t see eye-to-eye with their parties on major issues, but while I can grant Spector some leeway since the party has changed in the eons that he has held office, Griffith knew the score when he took office, less than 12 months ago. This is just cynical politics at its most…..cynical. On the bright side the purists in the GOP aren’t impressed and are looking to boot him in the primary. No business like show business.

This isn’t terribly important in itself. Obviously it undermines the message of the meeting, and gives cheap fodder to those who are eager to attack any mention of global warming or climate change. It does however show a distressing lack of urgency with the issue. Symbolic talks, and casual conferences aren’t the tools of progress.

We have all heard about this being in development since the early part of this decade, but to see it actually come to fruition is still surprising. Will we actually move beyond the underwhelming, expensive, and inefficient monopoly that NASA has more or less maintained since the ’60s? True there are other nations and the EU who have broken into space, lest we forget Sputik, but for all intents and purposes space has been controlled by the behemoth that is NASA for far too long. At $200,000 a pop, the tickets are only within the budget of say Lance Bass. Oh wait.

A Return!

Dear all loyal readers who have patiently awaited my return, here it is. I will only say that the journey back has been long and hard. I won’t carry on further about my absence, but instead will turn back to the far more interesting current events. I have read through today’s stories, and I am confronted with either gruesome, depressing stories, or insipid celebrity pieces. Being in a light-hearted mood tonight, I chose the latter.

Apparently this year’s most used word is…….Twitter. That seems to fit for me. So many find the short anecdotes of others to be utterly fascinating. Last I heard the number one twitter account was for none other then the ever witty, mental giant Ashton Kutcher. The guy who made a career out that decade-centered sitcom from the ’90s, oh and he married that chick who made it big in Ghost. Twenty years ago….when she was his age…Not to sound overly negative, because I do get it. Well sort of. I mean I guess this blog is a similar idea. My thoughts on something, anything. I mean if you have twitter you then get “followers”. Talk about an ego boost! The term twitter has even spawned off shoots, one being the even cuter word, tweet.

Movie Review-Bottle Shock

Overcoming my overbearing lazieness I am going to type up a review on a new favorite film. Ok so this is a movie about wine, the true story of the arrival of the California wine country on the world map. With a cast of personal favorites, Alan Rickman and Bill Pulman, it caught my eye. Not to mention it revolves around wine! With the lush setting of Napa Valley in the rough and wild seventies the movie is at once funny and poignant. It allows the viewer to feel the passion of those early vinters struggled and usurped the wine supremacy from France. The lively soundtrack of ’70s rock, mostly the Doobies, helps the film’s pace and obviously aids the setting. Even though I knew how things ended, I thoroughly enjoyed the film from the first minute to the last line.

Local LOST Fan on Search For Island

Local man, Adam Troyer, is a devoted fan of the hit ABC show LOST, and has begun his own quest for the mysterious island. “I know how John (Locke) feels. I’ve been tryin to get the rest to go, but they don’t believe me” exclaims Adam. “They don’t get how important it is.” My. Troyer, recently unemployed from a local Wendy’s, has been collecting donations on top of the $500 of his own money for the trip. “It’s weird too. Me and my friends are so the characters on the show. My friend James is the fighter ya know, get its done, he is our Sayiid. Courteney is just like Kate, head strong but with a good heart.” As for the rest of the characters Mr. Troyer’s only explanation is “yea, more are coming to me. Like I think my coworker Seth could be Sawyer. Real ladies man, but a deep brooding inside.” Wearing a T-shirt with “Oceanic Six” printed on the front, Mr. Troyer hopes to find other fellow LOSTites, as he calls them. “I really hope they come. I’m not worried though, Troy is like our Jack. As long as I get him to go the rest will follow.”

Mickey Rourke’s Dog Died

Ok, so yes this is sad. I’ve had a dog, in a way, and I understand his grief. But isn’t a bit odd that Mr. Macho Rourke’s prized life companion is little Chihuaha, which incidentally he gave mouth to mouth to as it died, is huge news? This same dog that he thanked in his Golden Globe acceptance speech for his win in the Wrestler. I guess its a slow day in Hollywood, what with Dollhouse already reviewed and Lindsay staying sober.
